28.03.2023

Wicklow.  Our Treetop Walk in Avondale did it again: The second youngest member of the eak Treetop Walk family has won several awards at the renowned "WoodAwards Ireland". At the Wood Awards with the "Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland" (RIAI) last week, the jury chose the Treetop Walk near Wicklow, including the observation tower, as the overall winner of the event. Beyond the Trees Avondale as a destination is the winning project in the category "Large Public Buildings", and the Treetop Walk and the observation tower also cleared the price in the category "Innovation".

The competition for the Wood Awards is held in Ireland by all professionally renowned bodies in the field of timber construction, forestry and agriculture. Specifically, in addition to the RIAI, Forest Industries Ireland (FII), the forestry group in Ibec, and Enterprise Ireland (EI) are involved in the organisation – with the support of the Forest Service and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The award aims to highlight and promote timber as a sustainable building material in innovative projects in Ireland and overseas.
