Europe's leading provider of nature-oriented leisure facilities continues to expand its offering with its latest facility on the Baltic Sea island

Bad Kötzting, 02. June 2021 – On 1 June 2021, the treetop walk of Erlebnis Akademie AG (eak) in Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom opened its doors to visitors for the first time. Based on the former "Bismarckwarte", the tower stands out with a square shape never before constructed by eak. On the very first day, the treetop walk attracted many curious visitors. The visitors were enthusiastic and enjoyed an all-round successful opening day.

With the opening of the new treetop walk, not only the island of Usedom is pleased to have a new tourist attraction, it is also a very special event for Erlebnis Akademie AG itself. "We are very excited that we can open our eleventh facility right here on Usedom. The island is known as a natural beauty and we believe we can enrich it with our nature-based concept and offer locals and visitors another attractive experience," says Bernd Bayerköhler, spokesman for the board of Erlebnis Akademie AG.

The new nature experience facility is located in the Baltic Sea resort of Heringsdorf, in the immediate vicinity of Heringsdorf railway station. This means that visitors can best arrive by public transport, and from the immediate vicinity they can easily reach the path on foot or by bicycle.

The first few metres of ascent to the wooden path are via a staircase or the lift in the entrance tower. The path winds through the treetops of the island's typical beech and pine trees of the Heringsdorf forest and leads nature lovers along the path past several learning and activity stations. These invite young and old explorers to get to know the local flora and fauna and to learn interesting facts about the history and geography of the island. In the middle of the trail, visitors literally reach the highlight of their walk.

This is where the 33-metre-high observation tower is located, with the top of the tower being the highest point on the entire island of Usedom. Like the other eak treetop walks, the Treetop Walk Usedom is barrier-free and suitable for wheelchairs and prams with a maximum gradient of 6%. The top tower platform offers a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view of the imperial spas of Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck, Swinemünde and the island's hinterland. On a clear day, even the island of Rügen is visible and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy an excellent view all the way to the German and Polish mainland.

Once back at the bottom, guests of the treetop walk can enjoy fresh and regional dishes in the beer garden of the "Futterkrippe". For the little ones, a playground is currently being built where they can have a good romp. The next few weeks will also see the introduction of the comic rally on the trail, where children can win a small prize at the end of the excursion.
