Night Lights at the Treetop Walks of Erlebnis Akademie AG

Bad Kötzting. Guests will soon be immersed in a magical winter experience on the Treetop Walks. Illuminated figures, glittering 3D ornaments and kilometre-long fairy lights will envelop guests in a very special atmosphere above the treetops. Starting in November 2024, Erlebnis Akademie AG will implement the new winter highlight on a total of nine Treetop Walks in Europe and brighten up the dark season.
Night Lights at the Treetop Walk Black Forest as a model
The Treetop Walk Black Forest was the only eak path in Germany to be illuminated in the winter of 2023/24 already. As a result, the Treetop Walk in Bad Wildbad recorded the highest number of visitors in December since it opened in 2014.
From Sunday, 30 th of November 2024, the Treetop Night Lights will therefore return at Black Forest – with an extended duration. Until 2 nd of February 2025, the winter illumination can be experienced weekly from Thursday to Sunday. After the Christmas holidays, from 27 th of December to 6 th of January, even daily. Treetop Night Lights in Germany and Austria
In contrast, the 2024/25 Night Lights are completely new on three other Treetop Walks in Germany: at the Saarschleife and on the islands of Usedom and Rügen. Here, too, the Night Lights can be experienced starting on Sunday, 30 th of November 2024.
At the Treetop Walk Salzkammergut in Austria, the magic starts even earlier: Night Lights on the Grünberg in Gmunden begin on Thursday, 28 th of November 2024. And there is another novelty. In cooperation with the Grünberg cable car, the Treetop Walk will also open regularly in winter for the first time this year. On the Magic of Lights days, the Grünberg cable car will take guests up and down the mountain in comfort and fully accessible.

Christmas spirit lasts well into the new year
Unlike most activities in Christmas season, the Treetop Night Lights won’t end with the Christmas holidays but can be experienced even into the New Year. At the Treetop Walk in Ireland, for example, the Night Lights run from 15 th of November to 3 rd of February, and at the Treetop Walk in Rogla (Pot med krošnjami Pohorje) from 6 th of December to 7 th of January. At the locations in Krkonoše (Czech Republic) and Bachledka (Slovakia), the magical lights will start next year, in line with the local ski and holiday season.
At all five locations in Germany and Austria, the special atmosphere also lasts into the New Year: At the Treetop Walk Salzkammergut and Saarschleife until 12 th of January. At the Treetop Walk Black Forest until 2 nd of February and at Usedom and Rügen until 2 nd of March 2025. Thus, the Night Lights also create a special backdrop for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day get aways. But also in other regards, the Treetop Night Lights stand out.
Unique illuminated figures and attention to sustainability
During Night Lights, the Treetop Walks are wrapped in fairy lights from the entrance to the very top of their viewing towers. More than 300,000 little lights adorn each path. The 3D illuminated figures at each location are unique. Along the way, visitors encounter various sparkling forest animals and glittering decorations. Special attention was paid to sustainability and the ‘real’ forest dwellers in upfront to the event.
The installation was coordinated with all the local key organisations for nature conservation. It uses state-of-the-art LED technology with low power consumption and a warm white light that has been specifically developed for outdoor use. In addition, the Night Lights end in the early evening hours to minimise the impact on wildlife and keep the peace and quiet of the forest at night.
The Treetop Night Lights are planned as a long-term winter attraction and will be available on eak’s Treetop Walks for at least the next three years.
