World Blood Donation Day: eak supports the Red Cross and gives courage with blood

14th of June is World Blood Donor Day. Erlebnis Akademie AG is using its reach, online and at the Treetop Walks, to support the German Red Cross in its work.

Bad Kötzting, 11th of May 2025 – For many years, the employees of Erlebnis Akademie AG (eak) have been supporting blood donation in various ways. Since 2024, also thanks to a joint partnership with the German Handball Federation (DHB), these initiatives have developed into a small cooperation with the German Red Cross, which is now being brought to life for the second time.

Online campaign takes shape through blood donation events

A total of nine Treetop Walks operated by Erlebnis Akademie AG in Germany, Austria, France, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, as well as Zážitková Akademie s.r.o. and Erlebnis Akademie AG, are participating in the German Red Cross's social media campaign around 14th of June: ‘A, B and 0. You’ll only notice, when it’s missing. #missingtype’. In June, eak and its facilities are using their combined reach on Facebook and Instagram, which amounts to several million people, to draw attention to the urgent need for blood donations.

In addition, there will be posters on site and other activities such as colleagues donating blood. The Treetop Walk Usedom and the Treetop Walk at the Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen are teaming up with the German Red Cross to turn themselves into donation stations for employees and guests: there will be a donation event at both locations on 13th of July, with a second event on Rügen on 24th of August.

“Every seven seconds, a blood transfusion is needed in Germany,” according to the German Red Cross, which also reports that recruiting new (young) donors is becoming increasingly challenging.
