Animal reserve

Game reserve - a nature trip for the whole family

16 large enclosures and aviaries have been built in the diverse forest landscape on the edges of the National Park. Currently and formerly indigenous animals, such as lynx, bison and brown bears, are housed in extensive enclosures in our animal reserve.

You can learn about the geology of the region in the geological exhibition, or discover the diversity of the indigenous forest plants in all seasons in our botanical exhibition.

Combine your treetop walk visit with a trip to the animal, botanical and geological reserves in the Bavarian Forest National Park.

Admission is free.

 Hans-Eisenmann-Haus Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre provides information about all the activities available in the Bavarian Forest National Park.

Trained staff and modern information stations offer tips for your excursion as well as advice for planning your holiday in the National Park region. There’s also an exciting film programme with films about the National Park,
a pleasant relaxation area with seating and a National Park shop.

The forest workshop, an environmental educational experience space for families with children and young people as well as school classes, has been located in the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus since August 2020.

In the forest workshop of the Bavarian Forest National Park, visitors can discover biological diversity with all their senses. Listening stations, smelling stations, a bird song quiz and a cave invite you to explore and discover.

The heart of the facility is the recreated mountain Lusen, which guarantees exciting climbing fun.

Alternatively, we recommend a visit to the Forest History Museum in St. Oswald.
Both facilities are indoor and admission is free.
