The walk - From the entrance to the observation tower

The island of Rügen thrives on its diversity. It can be explored at ground level along beautiful cycling and hiking trails. However, only the Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen's treetop walk allows you to get close to the treetops.

Up here, in pristine nature 4 to 17 metres above the forest floor, you’ll find new perspectives
over the island of Rügen, the Kleiner Jasmunder Bodden and the Baltic Sea.

The walk and observation tower are designed to be accessible and family-friendly.
A maximum gradient of 6% also makes it easy to visit with a wheelchair or pushchair.

The Eagle's Nest - Enjoy the view from the observation tower, 40 metres above the ground

In the truest sense of the word, the highlight of the walk is the 40-metre-high observation tower, also called the Eagle's Nest.
It is unique not only due to its airy architectural form, but also because the tower was built around a 30-metre-high copper beech.

The 600-metre ramp inside the tower winds its way up around the tree trunk, offering special insights into the tree's life and development.

Once you arrive at the observation platform, you will be rewarded with an impressive view of Rügen's countryside and the Baltic Sea.
In good weather, you can even see the steeples of Stralsund and the pylons of the Rügen bridge.
With a little luck, you’ll catch a glimpse of the white-tailed eagles native to the surrounding forests as they circle.
