There are plenty of other leisure activities available in the border area between Germany, Luxembourg and France besides the Saarschleife - the symbol of Saarland.
The Saarschleife is a breakthrough valley of the River Saar through the quartzite hills of the Taunus. The River Saar has carved its way into the rock over millions of years, creating a breath-taking nature experience.
The Saarschleife begins shortly after the Merzig district of Besseringen and ends in Mettlach. Besseringen and Mettlach are only two kilometres apart as the crow flies, but the River Saar winds its way around the mountain ridge for almost 10 kilometres. Montclair Castle stands on the wooded ridge within the Saarschleife.
The Cloef Atrium Meeting and Visitor Centre is located right by the entrance to the walk and houses, among other things, the Tourist Information Office with its own shop. Here, you will find regional products, hiking and cycling maps, postcards, souvenirs and much more.
The Tourist Information Office in the Cloef Atrium is open at the following times:
April to October: 10 am to 5 pm daily
November to March: 11 am to 4 pm daily
