The walk - From the entrance to the observation tower

Take a walk through pristine nature up to 23 metres above the forest floor, and gain a new perspective - that's what the Treetop Walk Saarschleife has to offer.

The accessible treetop walk meanders for 1,250 metres through beeches, oaks and Douglas firs towards the Saarschleife.

The creatures of the forest and other forest life forms are introduced in detail at learning stations along the walk. There are activity stations along the walk for our adventure-hungry visitors.

The observation tower - Enjoy the view over the Saarschleife from 42 metres above the ground

In the truest sense of the word, the highlight of the walk is the 42-metre-high observation tower. From the platform, you’ll be treated to a unique panoramic view over the landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park - down into the Saarschleife valley and, on a clear day, as far as the Vosges mountain range in France.

The wooden construction consists of nine laminated beams arranged in a semicircle. A 2.50-metre-wide ramp leads up to the tower on either side of the central structure. The ramp is easy to master with a wheelchair, a pushchair and for anyone with a physical disability as the gradient never exceeds 6%. There are horizontal platforms on the inner (every 24 m) and outer (every 36 metres) sides of the ramp where you can rest and catch your breath. The observation platform at the top of the tower measures over 70 square metres, providing plenty of space for everyone, even on busy days.
