Naturpark Schwarzwald Mitte/Nord

Extensive forests, deep valleys, rushing Black Forest streams and a mosaic of green pastures and lush meadows - the Naturpark Schwarzwald Mitte/Nord is a landscape teeming with life and a paradise for nature lovers.

Locals and visitors can hike through open valleys, find traces of the charcoal production history in the forest, gain insights into the centuries-old raftsman trade, encounter castle ruins, old mine tunnels and get to know pretty Black Forest farms - fantastic views included.

With around 375,000 hectares and a population of over 700,000, the Nature Park is one of the largest in Germany.

The natural and cultural landscapes in the central and northern Black Forest offer sporting activities, culinary specialities and a whole range of culturally valuable traditions. The aim of the Nature Park is to preserve the cultural landscape that is so typical of the Black Forest, and to carefully develop it further. The Nature Park supports numerous projects, from nature and environmental education to marketing regional products and the creation of nature-friendly activities for tourists.
